2012 Nutmeg State Games Male Athlete of the Year: Koby Robinson (Track and Field)
From a young age Koby was very dedicated to his sport. His tremendous abilities in Track and Field have always put him ahead of the competition in his age group, landing him spots competing in the older age divisions. Although he was competing against athletes 2 and 3 years older then him, Koby placed in two events his very first year as a Nutmeg State Games athlete. In 2012, Koby went on to win his first trophy- placing first in the High Jump at the Northeast Indoor Classic Youth Meet. Koby really hit his stride at the AAU State Meet, placing first in High Jump and Shot Put along with collecting the gold medal in the Pentathlon. In the 2012 Nutmeg State Games, Koby set a Shot Put record with a throw of 18’. He also placed 1st in the Long Jump and 3rd in the 100m. Koby continues to show outstanding performances here in Connecticut, being awarded 8 medals in 4 years with the “Games”. Currently, Koby is looking to try his skill at other sports such as basketball and is just beginning midget football. In addition off the field Koby is a great student, having just earned the Student of the Month Award this past September at Maloney Magnet School.
